First Christmas Shop

Some people might think mid-November is too early to start your Christmas celebrations, but for me, the excitement is in the build-up to the big day. The fairy lights and tinsel going up, mince pies coming out in stores, Christmas candles and of course, all the best Christmas music. I did a bit of shopping yesterday, and although not all of the products were Xmas themed, the majority of them fit the bill!

I have been buying presents for friends and family and frantically trying to think up ideas for my Secret Santa, but I have also been treating myself to a few things too, so I thought I’d share them with you. I’ll do the non-Christmas bits and bobs first, and save the best for last!

Makeup Organising:

I have been after a makeup organiser for a while now, and I knew I could get my hands on one in Tiger, one of my favourite stores. As I am starting to film more content for YouTube and some of this will be makeup themed, I thought it was about time I organised myself properly. So yesterday I popped in and looked through their collection and saw they had a small one that fits perfectly at the front of my makeup table. This, along with my new vanity box I have recently got, and now I’m quite chuffed with how it has turned out! I think this one was £7, and they had a couple that were either larger or smaller, so they have a good selection to choose from.

No.36 Sea Salt Mist Reed Diffuser:

A couple of months ago, I bought this candle from good old Primark, but it burnt out within a few uses, so when I went back in to get another one, I spotted this and decided that it was better value for money, not to mention, you lose the danger element aka FIRE. I am really happy with it so far… it claims to last 8 weeks so I will keep an eye out for when the smell dwindles away. It was only £3 whereas a large candle was £5 and it only burned for 60 hours, which sounds like a lot but I’m sure it isn’t 8 weeks worth. So depending on how well this works, I may be sticking to diffusers from now on!

Christmas Fairy Lights:

As somebody asked me the other day; what makes a light a Christmas light? I couldn’t answer apart from saying that some of mine were shaped like snowflakes, even so, they are winter, not Christmas… anyway. I bought two new sets of lights for this season, to go with the other I purchased last year. I am much happier with the new ones, well done Primark, you’ve upped your game! They are much brighter and I love how they are smaller lights on a wire, which makes them more delicate, but they look prettier intertwined with tinsel, which is how I have displayed one of the sets. I have the 40 Copper Wire LED Star lights (£4) and 40 LED Firefly lights (£2.50), which are both 4.35m long, so ample to adorn places in your room like your desk or mirrors. Because they are much lighter weight this year, they are also easier to keep in place, by using small blobs of blue-tac. They take 3 AA batteries, so I keep them turned off when I am not in my room, but they are much brighter, as I mentioned before, and I think this is why.

Festive Slippers:

I couldn’t go another Christmas without some of these, and I saw the perfect pair hanging by the tills on the way to pay in Primark, so I threw them in the basket last minute and I’m glad I did, especially for £3.50! They are the Reindeer Novelty Footlets and they’re super comfy, perfect for popping on when watching a Christmas movie with a hot chocolate and a blanket. Nothing better!

Yankee Candles:

I have always loved Yankee Candles and last Christmas my mum bought me one, so when I finished it the other day, I knew I wanted some new ones. I went into the store in town and bought a couple of mini ones for £1.99 each, or £10 for 12 (for a limited time only). I purchased Sparkling Snow and Snow In Love in the ‘votive’ size. Sparkling Snow is described on the website as having Top Notes of Sweet Orange, Pine Needles, Crisp Mint, Mid Notes of Evergreens, Blue Spruce, White Pine, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Bay Leaf, Juniper Berry and Base Notes of Frosted White Musk, Fir Balsam, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Patchouli. The Snow In Love is described as having Top Notes of Citrus, Mid Notes of Spicy, Floral, Jasmine and Base Notes of Oriental, Woody, Patchouli, Sandalwood. If you can imagine what any of that smells like, I applaud your knowledge of scents, because all I know is they smell lovely.

The Body Shop Bath Bombs and Bubbles:

The final thing I’m sharing today is The Body Shops new range of Bath Bombs and Bubbles. I’m not going to say too much because I am planning a review of these soon! They come in 8 scents, five of which are Bath Bombs (Mango, Strawberry, Candied Plum, Vanilla and Green Tea) and the other three are Bath Bubbles (Coconut, Moringa and Pink Grapefruit). I was able to get my hands on 5 of these and I am very excited to share with you guys my thoughts on them, so keep an eye out for the upcoming blog post!

Student Summer Fashion

So recently, I have ventured into the unknown and bought quite a few pieces of clothing online from a website called Romwe. I had seen the site advertised on Facebook many times but wasn’t too sure whether I could trust the crazy low prices, and it not to be a scam. But I can safely say, I haven’t been robbed of hundreds of pounds from my bank account, and not only have I received my purchases, but I actually really like them, and have had quite a few compliments asking where I have got my things from. When I say Romwe, they look surprised and I explain that it might take a couple of weeks to ship your stuff, but for basics like tee-shirts and jumpers etc. it is a great site!

As I just mentioned above, I have only used them for tee-shirts and hoodies so far, as I am not sure about sizing guides for denim jeans/shorts etc., but I am excited to try other items and see how they turn out. I’ll show you some of the tops I have already received, and a couple of two-piece’s (top and shorts) that are on the way to me now.

Tee-shirts and Hoodies

These three were from my first order, and I noticed that they all came up a bit small, but if you like a cropped tee then that’s perfect. My favorite is the blue New York embroidered top. I know some people who ordered the Pineapple top, had concerns that it would be see-through, but it isn’t too bad, as long as you wear a nude or white bra you won’t be able to notice that it is that transparent.

You can check the individual size guides for each piece of clothing online before you buy anything. The Striped top is quite tight on me, so I would definitely recommend going for a small or medium unless you are really tiny, then an extra small might just be ok! The other tops I bought all fitted really nicely, and all of them have been made from a comfortable material, nothing scratchy or horrible.

If there is one thing I might mention, it’s that with the ones with badges (like the Pineapple or the Rose), the stitching can be a bit hurried and look a bit messy up close, but it isn’t anything you can notice from a normal distance away. Chances are, no one will ever know.

The hoodie I bought is exactly the same as I pointed out on one of my previous posts last summer, I believe, and was from Topshop at around £30, so for half of that, it was a steal, and the quality is the same as the Topshop version! Bargain!

The others I have bought are below.

Two Piece Summer Sets

These two are in the post as we speak and should be arriving soon. I am really excited to see how they look and will probably order some more for summer once I know I can order with confidence. I really double checked the sizes for these, as shorts can come up quite tight, especially on the Sunflower design as they don’t seem to be elasticated. Of course, if that proves a problem, you could always pop a couple of belt loops on and tie a belt around the waist or even add elastic to the inside of the waistline!

Here I’ll leave a list of all the products with direct links to the pages where you can buy them. Or alternatively, you can just visit www.romwe.com and browse through their whole collection.

Pineapple Embroidered Tee (Red)

Letter Embroidered Short Sleeve Tee ‘Heartbreaker’ (Yellow)

White Letter Print Hooded Crop Sweatshirt

White Crochet Trim Crop T-shirt

Sunflower Print Tiered Frill Cami Top With Shorts

Halter Neck Rose Applique Crop Top With Shorts

I really like Romwe because it is crazily cheap, and isn’t actually too bad for quality! This is perfect for students or anyone really from the age of 11-25 because money isn’t the easiest thing to get hold of, and good, cheap clothing is always a win!

Thank you for reading guys! I hope you are all looking forward to the sunny weather we will hopefully be getting this summer! Have fun and remember to wear sun cream! Burnt is not a good look, trust me!

Fall Footwear

So it’s come to that time of the year where boots, coats, scarfs, hats and gloves come out, as the bitterly cold English wind cuts across the country and the leaves begin to fall. What am I talking about? Fall, of course, my favourite time of the year.

It’s not just the Pumpkin Spice Latte’s and the appearance of Christmas decorations that I adore, but fall fashion, to me, is the best of the year. I will be covering other bits and pieces as the season goes on, but today, we’re talking shoes.

Shoes for fall are absolutely gorgeous, ranging from a pair of Dr Martins, Ugg Boots or Trainers. As soon as we hit the season, new ranges and lines are brought out by each and every shoe company and the fun truly begins. Colours in the autumn are all based around the oranges, reds and browns; subtle but powerful. So there’s no surprise that a lot of the shoes brought out in fall are based around these colours, and others similar. I’m going to show you some of my favourites, including a couple of pairs I have purchased myself and some that are on my wish list.

The first I’m going to show you are the classic’s for fall. The Ugg Boots. The company Ugg has brought out so many different types, from heels to slippers, but the all time favourite is the boots. On my wish list, this year are the Bailey Bow Boots, a beautiful short boot, lined with the classic faux fur, but with a cute twist of a bow lacing up the back.

Next is the simple but classic, black heeled ankle boot. These became popular two winters ago; I remember buying mine and ended up getting horrible blisters for weeks because I didn’t break them in properly. Not only do these give the short girls a little extra height if it is wanted, but they look good with any outfit, skinny jeans and a winter coat, tartan pencil skirt and a blouse, you name it and they are bound to match. Mine were from Topshop, but I know a girl who bought a gorgeous pair from River Island, and many other stores stock them too, especially as we approach autumn and winter.

Next, we are going to look at not a boot, but a trainer. I have recently purchased the pair of Khaki green Nikes (below) and the others I had to decide between and were strong contenders for my autumn trainer. I really love wearing a pair of trainers, all year round, as they are so comfortable, they come in hundreds of different styles and colours and they last at least a year or two or full wear. If you don’t have a pair of fashion trainers, then you should really consider owning a pair, as they are brilliant for comfort but look gorgeous too.

Finally, my all time favourite, Timberland Boots. I bought my first ever pair last autumn and I wore them nearly every day for the whole season. They are comfortable, fashionable, keep your toes warm and go with every pair of jeans or leggings you own. As well as all of this, they are fully winter proof, being waterproof and supplying excellent support for those winter walks through the woods with the dogs.

Thank you so much for reading my latest post, and I hope I have given you some ideas for your perfect footwear wardrobe for fall!

In & Out : Hoodies & Sweatshirts

Being observant, as I am, I was wondering through the shopping centre in Brighton and noticed in lots of stores that I walked through, that hoodies and sweatshirts are SO IN at the moment! This is brilliant news, as a hoodie, even though a basic item, can bring a casual, ruffled look together, instantly.

Pair a pair (isn’t that funny?) of your favourite jeans together with your favourite hoodie, add a pair of Adidas Superstars and a throw-it-all-in handbag and this look is perfect for those days where the temperature is starting to drop. After all, the temperatures will only fall from now on as we head towards autumn and you don’t want to get chilly! Even in the late days of summer, it can get slightly colder and most hoodies, you can easily fold up and put in your bag, ready in case you need them.

There are two types of jumpers I have seen a lot of recently; hoodies and sweatshirts. I am going to show you a few of my favourites down below and some that I plan on purchasing, and if you want to take a look at prices and where they come from, hover (or click) to see more details. Or if you want to visit the website directly, click on the links below!

These ones are from Topshop and Asos, and are just a few of a huge collection they have!

Although you may be sad to part with the money for a new hoodie at the time, I know I am, after a few months, you will be very glad you indulged in your new favourite item of clothing. After all, who says a hoodie can’t be worn everywhere? Mine are worn out, at home relaxing, in bed overnight, to the gym, pretty much anywhere and everywhere!

Hoodies and sweatshirts are only two of a number of styles and there is sure to be a jumper somewhere out there that is ready to be your next best thing!

Have a browse and make sure you show me anything you buy! You can inbox me at my official address (imogensoperblogs@gmail.com) or add me on social media! I’d love to hear from you all!

Summer Style: Dungarees

Black Denim Skinny Dungarees | New Look

Dungarees hey? The first time I wore dungarees was when I was a toddler, so it seems I am just wearing my old clothes again when I go shopping for the newest style. It seems to be the case with lots of new clothing ideas in the past few years. For example: Onesies, bodysuits, and dungarees. This doesn’t stop them being the most wanted style of the summer and certainly doesn’t stop them flying of the shelves, making retailers lots of $$$.

Dungarees are super easy to style, whether they are full length leg or shorts, both are the the best foundations to use to create your perfect chilled-out summer look. They come in so many different colours, more tears and rips than you can think possible and hundreds of different styles and fits. So if you are thinking, no, I tried some last summer and they weren’t right, go out and try them again! In my town centre there at least 10 different stores that would sell at least 20 different styles!  Retailers know what’s in and what isn’t and so they tailor their clothes to suit the customer. After all, we are the ones with the money! 😉

I’m going to give you three different ways to style your dungarees. I own a pair of shorts dungarees and they are my go to fashion item if I want my legs out but not my tummy!

Number 1: Stripes

You may be shocked to hear this, or not, but the easiest way to wear dungarees is with a basic plain or pattern tee underneath and a pair of fashion trainers! Most of the tee’s I were underneath my dungarees are striped and come from Primark! Not only is Primark great value for picking up all the different colours and patterns you could ever need, but the quality isn’t too shabby either. The material is soft against your skin and if you find a tiny mark or loose cotton when you get home from your shopping day, don’t take it back! (Unless it’s extreme, obviously!) The worn look goes perfectly with dungarees as denim tends to look worn even before you buy it, sometimes it’s even ripped! The t-shirts I own are plain two-toned striped short sleeve, which makes them ideal for underneath dungarees. These can, of course be worn on there own also and can look casual, laid back and are extremely comfortable. Here are some examples of stripes that are in the shops now, so go out and go shopping!

Red Stripe Boxy T-Shirt | New Look

Blue Stripe Boxy T-Shirt | New Look

Heartbreak Navy Stripe I Like You Print T-Shirt | New Look

These three are from New Look and are all around £10. You can find cheaper or more expensive ones elsewhere, so take your pick! All you have to do is search ‘striped t-shirts’ into any store’s site and hundreds of results will pop up.

Number 2: Off the Shoulder

Off the shoulder tops are great for summer. Okay, yes. They do cause a problem with bra straps and then when wearing a strapless bra it keeps falling down, but with the right bra, off the shoulder tops open up a whole new side to fashion. Not only are they great for getting that bronzed look on your shoulders and not causing icky tan lines, they are again an essential for summer. Coming in long sleeved and short sleeved, there is a top for every occasion, and they are so easy to style with a throw on cardigan or a jumper if it is a bit chillier. Rain macs are the same and can take the chill off the breeze during that summer shower of rain, whilst allowing you to get you tan on, all in the same day! The best ones for wearing with dungarees are soft plain material, so that you aren’t hiding any detail with the denim front. The denim straps on your shoulders are never skin irritating, unless you have super sensitive skin to denim, in which case I would stay clear of this look. The off the shoulder look also allows you to stay cooler on a hot summers day, allowing you to have skin on show but not look too revealing. Again, pair these with your favourite fashion trainers and you are good to go!

Here are a couple of examples you could wear, all found at Asos, all around the price of £10.

Number 3: Plain w/ Edge Detail

These tops were huge last summer and I remember, when I walked into town to meet people, you almost certainly see at least 20 different girls wearing these tops. After Topshop launched their range, other stores followed, with these tops making an appearance in New Look and Urban Outfitters soon after. They are, of course, still able to be bought today and if you can’t find any in store, go online! Asos have a huge range of long sleeved tops and Topshop and Urban Outfitters still have a wide variety of short sleeved choices online. These tops are usually seen with a white main body and then with a black or coloured trim to the sleeves and neckline. This creates a pretty contrast and as a basic top, they look great underneath dungarees as you can still see the detail!

Here are a few I have found on Asos, Topshop and Urban Outfitters. They range from £10-£30.

I hope that I have given you some ideas and inspiration with how to wear dungarees, as I know I had no clue when I first bought mine. But after playing around with a couple of ideas I love wearing them, and in the summer they are one of my summer go-to’s.

If you want any of the details for the photographs above, just give them a quick click, and a link will take you to the page. Go out and get shopping!

Jack Wills Summer Products

Recently I went on a little shopping spree in Jack Wills where I was treated to a few items ready for my summer. These ranged from a couple of new pairs of jeans, shirts, and even a beautiful new dress. Here I will show you which products I love and what to pair them with, to ensure you have an amazing, fashion-filled summer.

The Fernham High Waisted Super Skinny Jean in Mid Indigo

FERNHAM HIGH WAISTED SUPER SKINNY JEANFERNHAM HIGH WAISTED SUPER SKINNY JEANFERNHAM HIGH WAISTED SUPER SKINNY JEANFERNHAM HIGH WAISTED SUPER SKINNY JEAN

I bought two pairs of these jeans as they were on offer, buy 2 for £60. They fit really nicely around the shape of your hips and legs and they are super comfortable. They are really soft and this comes from their composite of nearly 50% cotton. They come in individual sizes meaning you can find exactly the right fit for you, and this is really important as they come priced on the slightly steeper side at £49.50. I really like them in the colour Mid Indigo, a beautiful mid-washed denim blue, so whilst not looking pristine and new, they still have colour to them. To keep the colour in, I wash my jeans inside out so they are not in direct contact with detergent. They go with a number of tops; tees, shirts, blouses, anything you want. They can be dressed up with a pair of ballet pumps, or dressed down with a pair of fashion trainers. I am super happy with my jeans and will definitely consider buying more when my other jeans start showing signs of wear and tear. I’m not into the ripped jeans look. 😉

Raddery Floral Print Dress

RADDERY FLORAL PRINT DRESSRADDERY FLORAL PRINT DRESSHORWICH LACE STITCH CARDIGANHORWICH LACE STITCH CARDIGAN

This is one of my favourite purchases. This dress has a cotton petticoat underneath the skirt, also made of cotton, which gives it lift, not too floaty but more rigid. This is nice for those days with the summer breezes and avoiding any flying skirt incidents! It has a lovely blue floral pattern with hints of red, and this print is one of their favourite prints, with it featuring on many other products, such as underwear, leggings and phone cases. I chose this over a dress with a spaghetti strap, even though I liked both, because it gives the top of the dress more structure and made it feel less like a beach dress and more like an everyday casual dress or for going out to dinner. This dress with a pretty cardigan from their range, for example the one on the right, (Horwich Lace Stitch Cardigan)  would look beautiful and would just add that extra touch that makes up the outfit. Pair these with a pair of casual trainers or ballet pumps and you’re set to go!

Silverdale Leggings in Navy Floral & Govier Leggings in Navy/White

GOVIER LEGGINGSGOVIER LEGGINGS

These two pairs of leggings are perfect for the summer when you just want to relax and stay warm in the evenings when the temperature drops slightly. Both have elastic Jack Wills embroidered waistbands which sit comfortably on your hip line / waist line, depending on the size you purchase. The patterns on both are easy to wear with other things, for example a plain tee with a zip-up hoodie on-top, a pair of flip flops, if you’re feeling adventurous, and you’re set. Both fit really nicely around your legs and hips and are both very comfortable against the skin. I would suggest buying them bigger rather than going down a size, even if this means you are buying a size bigger than usual, as they fit nicer around the legs with a bit of extra length. Saying this though, make sure they fit around the waist well and don’t drop down. Staff in-store are friendly and are happy to help with any queries you may have about fittings.

Wilden Boy Pants

WILDEN BOY PANTS 3 PACKWILDEN BOY PANTS 3 PACK

Underwear from JW has always been my favourite, and even though they come at a slightly higher price than your quick buy down at Primark, they are worth the money, as they last a long time and are super comfortable. The waist band means they never feel like they are falling down. Because of them being made of 100% cotton (excluding elastics) they are soft and flexible to fit around the curves of your body. They come in a wide variety of patterns and colours and they have recently designed the same classic JW boy pant, but in a thong style, which is great for girls who like different styles but still want to consider being comfy. These also come in 3 packs which makes choosing between the many styles easier and for a limited time the single pants are 2 for £15. (£9.50 singularly).

The Highmoor Classic Fit Shirt

HIGHMOOR CLASSIC FIT SHIRTHIGHMOOR CLASSIC FIT SHIRT

These two shirts are my new favourite tops to wear out. They are made of 100% cotton which makes them incredibly soft and comfy to wear. As a classic fit, rather than a slim fit, they still add to your figure because they are tapered not only at the bust but at the back also so they are naturally drawn in. Both colours are very easy to wear with denim or black jeans, and can be dressed up or dressed down by adding a few little accessories. Both are adorned with the JW logo, the pheasant, and this adds a lovely touch, coinciding with the trim around the inside of the collar and the sleeves. You can tuck the shirt in, leave it out, roll up the sleeves, keep them button and undo or do-up as many buttons to the collar as you want, depending on the look you are going for, but all of the options create a formal but casual look. With care (washing with similar colours and ironing before wear) these shirts will last a long time and can be used for many different occasions.

I know Jack Wills isn’t for everybody, but every piece of clothing in their ranges are made beautifully and are very good quality. Yes, the prices may be higher than other stores, but I swear by Jack Wills for certain things and I just cannot find the same quality and feel about the clothes by other brands. All of these items can be found on the Jack Wills website.

I hope I have inspired your summer and you step outside your comfort zone this season, and remember, you can rock any look you want if you coordinate each bit correctly! Just have a little search on Instagram or Tumblr, or even your favourite brands website and see what they have done! Anything looks good, its just the confidence sometimes needed to pull it off! Have fun girls!
